‘Our Patch’ Monitoring Program

The Project

Marden Senior College, in collaboration with the Communities Environmental Program and Norwood, Payneham & St Peter’s Council has installed three Photo points near the Torrens River close to the Church Street Reserve. Students have planted native vegetation in this area known as ‘Our Patch’ for over 20 years.

What are Photo Points?

Photo points are markers that invite people who walk past to take a photo and post it on the Marden Senior College website. Using the posts to position a camera or smartphone will make sure all photos capture the same spot as it points in a specific direction and at a particular angle.

Illustrates environmental changes over time

Environmental Action students from Marden Senior College, along with using water testing equipment to monitor Torrens River water quality, will use these photos to help build an historical record of changes at ‘Our Patch’ over time. The information will be used by students as part of their assessment tasks for their SACE subject.

Engage the community to contribute to local environmental research

These photo points are a practical way for our local community to take part in local environmental research. From the MSC website, people can see their photos online and compare with photos taken by other community members.
