This is a course for students interested in learning techniques from a variety of painting and drawing methods. Experimentation with media such as graphite, coloured pencils, pastels, ink, charcoal, watercolour, acrylics and mixed media will be explored and skills developed.
The following three areas of study will be covered:
- Visual Arts in context
A visual study of techniques and methods and their practical application, with reference to artists’ examples. Emphasis will be on skills and ideas development, experimenting with media and their application in the practical pieces and documenting the creative process.
- Visual thinking
A folio showing technique and media experiments and documentation of idea development for major practical work.
- Practical resolution
1 x major drawing, painting, (or series of).
40% – Visual Study
30% – Folio
30% – Practical
No background knowledge required although drawing skills would be an advantage.
This subject can lead to any SACE Stage 2 Visual Arts or Creative Arts course or Certificate III in Visual Arts – Painting and Drawing/ Textiles or Certificate III in Design Fundamentals.
